Interference

The thing... well, it didn't exactly hum, but it vibrated. She could feel it in her bones. In her head. It was distracting. She didn't feel as if she could think near the little box, with the strange crystal. Not only that, but the machinery in her shop seemed prone to break down when the box was near.

It was all very strange.

But she had promised to keep the thing close. She had no idea why anyone would want it, but she had promised to protect it. Perhaps if she found out more about it, she could utilize it better. Or would the interference just be worse...?
